AHS Senior Mark Medina Trumpets His Way to Triumph

Each year the Association of Texas Small School Bands has auditions for their All-State Jazz band starting back in September. Students audition at the region level, then if they earn a high enough chair, they advance to the Area round through a recording process. At that level they are judged against the other Area qualifiers and the top chairs are placed in the All-State Band.

This year, there were 334 students that auditioned from 106 different schools across the state of Texas in classes 1-A through 4-A. There are only 20 spots in the All-State Jazz Band, and Anna High School Band student Mark Medina qualified for the All-State Jazz Band as the 4th chair trumpet player. We’re so proud of his accomplishment! He will now have the opportunity rehearse and perform at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Convention from February 12-15.

Congrats, Mark!
